 Certification Timeline, Cycle 3, 2018-2019 students:  


Please note: there are no extensions or exceptions to the program timeline - it is the student's responsibility to meet all posted deadlines.

  • MODULE 1: Introductory Module
    • Registration opens June 15, 2018
    • Registration closes August 15, 2018
    • Must be completed by October 1, 2018 (prior to Conference attendance)
  • MODULE 2: Conference, Communication Module, Euthanasia Laboratory
    • Registration will open when general Conference Registration opens (additional information will be provided to students)
    • Registration closes August 31, 2018; you must be registered for conference by this day
    • Conference attendance, including the completion of the 2 required labs (Communication Workshop/Lab and Euthanasia Techniques Lab), will fulfill the requirements for the Conference and Communication Module (Module 2) 
    • The 8-hour Communication Workshop/Lab is mandatory for the Certification Program
    • The 3-hour CAETA Euthanasia Techniques Lab is mandatory for the Certification Program (even if you have previously taken this lab)
    • Students must complete Module 2 in the fall of their sign up year (e.g., if you sign up for Module 1 in 2018, you must attend conference in 2018)
  • MODULE 3: Advanced Hospice Module
    • Registration opens November 15, 2018
    • Registration closes January 15, 2019
    • Must be completed by March 15, 2019
  • MODULE 4: Pain Management Module
    • May be started at any time during the certification period 
    • Must be completed by August 15, 2019
  • MODULE 5: Advanced Euthanasia  (This module is newly added for the 2018-19 class, delivered by CAETA)
              May be started at any time during the certification period
             Must be completed by August 15, 2019
    • Two case studies must be submitted by May 15, 2019

    • There will be a 2-week window of online availability for students to take the examination; the 2-week window will occur 1-2 weeks prior to conference
    • The examination must be completed during a single session, and students will be allotted a 3-hour timeframe to complete their examination
